ABE International Hosts Inaugural Student Entrepreneurship Summit in Mombasa"
The Director General of ABE International, Kereeesa Nunez, has held the first annual meeting of ABE clubs for secondary school students in Mombasa. ABE which gathers about 6000 students from various countries in Africa south of the Sahara who are entrepreneurs of which about 500 are in Mombasa county.
In the meeting, students from different schools had the opportunity to present their ideas about entrepreneurship. Many ABE clubs have been involving young people, not only in starting a business, but also in transforming business ideas into profitable and sustainable businesses. Nunez emphasized the importance of mobilizing youth from classrooms to the boardroom, saying, "We are engaging with banks and universities to provide students with hands-on learning opportunities."
ABE club members get not only exclusive rates but also international support, The Cecm for education in in Mombasa county, Mbwarali Kome, acknowledged the importance of supporting these students. "We will take it upon ourselves to gather our students to find out how they can benefit," he said. Kame added that the county government will consider how to sign a cooperation agreement (MOU) to ensure students get support from private and public schools.
This conference was held at Jaffery Academy, where students showcased their creative ideas related to business. Kome thanked ABE Global and its director for coming to help the students in developing innovative ideas.
